<g:plusone href="http://herenextyear.com/top-google-search-position-5-seconds.php"></g:plusone>

<img size-full wp-image-2278" title="Google Plus Tips" src="http://herenextyear.com/newsite/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/google-plus-tip.gif" alt="Google Plus Tips on Google+ and G+" width="220" height="120" align="left" />I have to admit that I get bored quickly listening to speakers at seminars and conferences. So, about a year ago, I started bringing my video camera along whenever I would attend an event with a well-known presenter.

As soon as the speaker would start speaking, I would jump out of my seat to take a photo and then upload it to my laptop. From there, I would make a blog post and challenge myself using several steps to see if I could get the post onto Google’s #1 spot for the speakers name…by the time they were done speaking.

I didn’t think much of it as it was really more kind of a game than anything to see how fast I could get these posts onto Google. The first post I made live at a conference, took about 45 minutes to show up. The next time only 20 minutes went by and my new post was on Google. In October I made a post while sitting at an NSA meeting and only 8 minutes after I hit that “Publish” button, the posting was there on Google.

At first, I thought my results were skewed by my own search history settings on Google, so I went to my other fav search tool at Scroogle.org that allows you to search without any of the Google personalized search junk influencing your search results. Same thing. #1 position!

Of course, I knew the real potential of such a process would be for getting higher search positions for keyword phrases related far beyond just a public speaker’s name. I would spend the next month hording my new found process. At least I had some good stories to tell the next time I was to be the one presenting. But, that’s as far as it went.

About two weeks ago, I used the same process to write a blog post about Google+ and how big companies just looove Google+ and how those big companies have already attempted to dominate the space. Google had been implementing some big changes to their search algorithm that same week, so I decided to see if my process still worked and I added one other ingredient to the steps. That post got to the top of Google in……5 seconds!

What was the difference between my 8-minute record and my 5-second record?

The use of Google Plus in tandem with my blog post.

Enough was enough. I had to document my process in full beginning with my WordPress website setup strategies and detail out the entire posting process.

This past Monday, I released my latest mini-eManual to my subscribers fittingly called, “5 Seconds to #1″ for the whopping Cyber-Monday cost of just $7. I know it’s worth a lot more than that, but hey, it’s Christmas season!

The feedback from my subscribers and members so far has inspired me to release it to anyone interested but I’m only allowing it to be made available <strike>until Monday, December 5</strike> NOW REOPENED!!. Then I’ll remove the order link until it reappears in my January 2012 revision of my full-length manual Getting Brutal with Google, which I’ve been selling for $79 and updating continuously since 2005.

I think it’s only fair to charge for this manual since I spent all day Saturday after Thanksgiving to put it together for you. There’s nothing left out, no “secret sauce” that you have to pay another $100 for to get. It’s all there.

Surprisingly enough, not many people are talking about or using this method. They must be all caught up in something more “sexy” like QR Codes or mobile spam or something.

This product is NOW AVAILABLE only until Saturday, January 21, 2012!

<g:plusone href="http://herenextyear.com/big-companies-love-google-plus.php"></g:plusone>

You know Google Plus is there. You might have already setup an account on your own and joined a few circles.

But, who’s really making the big money with G+? The big companies for now.

But, there are a few million of us waiting to make it happen!

What is interesting is who is jumping into Google+ like it’s a new pair of jeans now that they’ve added business “pages” like facebook did a while back. Big companies like Ford who have 23,000 followers. Of course, that’s a far cry from Ford’s 5MM Likes on facebook. But, it just gives you an idea of scale. The fact that 61% of the top 100 brands already have established Google Plus pages should be a strong indicator that you need to be spending time on Google Plus.

Here’s a good article about brand name companies getting into Google Plus. I find it very interesting that so many of the same big companies that thought facebook and Twitter were just about talking about the old cliche “what I ate for breakfast” now embrace G+ fully and didn’t even hesitate to sign-up when it pre-released. They all have professional photos, consistent branding colors, active and routine participation in information sharing, coupons, like they’ve been engaged in social marketing for years! Well, they have.

From what I gathered from the article, there are a few motivators why companies are seeing the light with Google Plus. Hopefully this will incentivize you too:

It’s Google – Probably the most important reason of all. Unfortunately, whatever Google says do, we gotta just do. And, they’re saying “participate in Google+ or your search engine results positions (SERPs) for your website will diminish.

Facebook is Getting Cluttered – I’ve been hearing this a lot lately that people are enjoying G+ because it’s very clean and sleek as compared to its rival facebook. At least it hasn’t YET been hit by the trend facebook has seen lately with their facebook hackers.

Google+ is Easy to Use and Quick to Learn – Facebook seems like they’re adding features and functionality just for the sake of adding new things now. Same thing happened with cell phones. They call it “feature creep.” Users typically whine when new facebook launches happen and the new features they do add often don’t add to the greatness of the system and TOO often happen at the nixxing of features we did love.

Google is Suffering from a Case of the Crud – Google is always making an attempt to clean the “mucus” out of their search results. Spammers are always trying to sneak their junk into top search positions. G+ is an attempt for Google to see what pages and websites people like you and me feel are important and of high quality. That’s why you see all the “+1″ buttons these days. Click a +1 button and you will be telling google “good page!” You can read into how to game that system I’ll bet. Just have all your buddies go to your website and click your +1 button. But, that’s how Google wants it…it’s like being in high school all over again as we’re all out to win a popularity contest now.

Money of Course – It’s all about money with Google. Not saying it shouldn’t be. Heck, I’ll admit it. I play on the Internet all day because it’s my “business” and ultimately I eat leftovers from a garbage can or lobster depending on how well I’ve done “business” over the past week on the Internet. I’m just saying you should be prepared that Google is building out Google Plus for the MONEY it will receive in the soon-to-be-coming integration of Google AdWords.

So, there you have it. Those making money with Google+ right this very minute are the bigger companies who have already embraced it and have used what they learned with facebook to build their presence and following with Google Plus.

But, you don’t have to be left in the dust! Come along for the ride like the big companies are already doing or make the decision to just be content with your social networking efforts by accepting Linkedin invites, begging for facebook likes and growing Twitter follwers. The choice is yours…but I hope to see you soon on G+. Hook up with me when you get there at MartyDickinson.com/G+.

<g:plusone href="http://herenextyear.com/getting-started-facebook.php"></g:plusone>

Web Marketing All-in-One for Dummies co-author, Marty Dickinson, claims he could just use facebook all day long and he’d have all the leads he would need to keep his business growing.

Join Marty for 6 weeks (90 minutes per week) of small group training by connecting computers and voices from anywhere you are in the world. No long distance phone calls required. No sales pitches. It’s all about how to embrace core components of social networking one step at a time to get more followers, leads and sales for your business. Marty will introduce you to the top 4 core social networks including facebook, Linkedin, Twitter, and Google+ with the primary emphasis being on facebook.

Did you know that only 2% (or less) of your facebook “friends” or “fans” will see any particular post you’ve made to your facebook wall? Well, that’s true! In fact, facebook even has a measurement tool they call Edge Rank to determine how prominent your posts should be. In the Social 6-Pack sessions, you will discover how to improve your Edge Rank so that more of your followers will see your facebook postings. This is just one example of the many things covered.

Specifically, Marty will guide you through…

Getting past the “social networking is nothing but a time-suck” mindset…and he’ll convince you of that in under 60 seconds of the first session!

Why you don’t need 5,000 “friends” or 20,000 “Likes” to get big company results

Crucial components of social networking success that hardly anyone talks about

Recent changes in facebook and how to use them to your advantage

“Mining” facebook for red hot leads, sales and referrals

Maximizing your posts by simply getting a higher percentage of your friends and fans to see them in the first place

Driving more traffic from facebook to your website…and why this is so important to do!

Using free tools to build your facebook follower base

Functionally, you will learn…

Facebook “profile” and “page” setup steps to get you on the right track

Mining facebook for targeted leads, referrals and friend-building

Facebook paid advertising and when it makes sense to do it

Using photos, video and blog posts to increase interaction with your audience

Using facebook Events to fill your speaking gigs and get bursts of visibility

Expand your facebook community using outside sources

Drawing more of your social network followers to your website

Integrating your blog posts with Twitter, FB and Linkedin—automatically

The single success factor no one is talking about that will make all your social networking efforts pay off

Typical Meeting Format:

5 minutes (Announcements)
30 minutes (Progress reports by students)
45 minutes (Training by Marty)
10 minutes (Special attention)
Support by email or online chat directly with Marty throughout the 4 weeks!

Does it Work?

“Since joining Marty’s facebook training sessions, I’ve made as much in speaking fees in Quarter 1, 2011 as I did all of last year and I have taught 8 public classes in Quarter 1—the same number as I taught all last year. This has been made possible in large part due my increased activity in facebook and other social networks.”

Shelly Moorman – facebook.com/HeadandHeart

“Just hanging around the group of successful go-getters in my facebook group has been a very positive thing for me. I think I’ve benefited the most from supporting my existing customers through social networking. They would otherwise have difficulty reaching me by phone, so they appreciate another way to contact me and converse about related topics. This of course brings more business our way.

Russell Louie – facebook.com/OptimumChoices

When Marty finally convinced me to engage with social networking a year ago, I kicked and screamed the whole way. A year later, and our membership has more than doubled and we’re ramping up our local company to expand to a national level—in large part by using social networking.

Judith Briles – facebook.com/AuthorU

Space Really IS Limited!

Only 10 attendees are admitted for each facebook 4-pack series. Beyond that and you would start to lose the personal attention Marty demands. The time between sessions lets you implement the processes presented while allowing you to get support one-on-one from Marty whenever you need it.

How Much Does it Cost?

Marty’s daily training rate is $3500 per day. So, that’s well over a $5,000 in value with all those pieces together.

Your charge for all 4 sessions = Just $500 prepaid.

Reserve Your Spot Now

We are enrolling now for the May session. So, don’t delay. Register online to reserve your seat for the first four Mondays of May (2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd). Each session will be from 10am to 11:30am (mountain time).

Or, call Marty Dickinson at the main HereNextYear number 303-743-0832 with any questions or to place your order by phone or by sending an email through the contact form.

<g:plusone href="http://herenextyear.com/herenextyear-announces-new-product-launch-coming-thursday-july-29.php"></g:plusone>

There are three simple concepts to using the Internet to get more leads or sales for your business and to make more money online. No matter what products have been launched over the past year or what social networks have sprung up, the same three concepts haven’t changed. We figured with all the hoopla going on right now in the Internet marketing world, it was perfect timing to unveil our new educational manual for accomplishing those three tasks, which are:

1) Converting those who visit your website or interact with you somewhere else on the web to taking action with you

2) Enabling yourself to be not just “found” or “stumbled upon” but ever present

<g:plusone href="http://herenextyear.com/get-on-cnn-as-a-guest-using-video.php"></g:plusone>

I always make a point of giving advice only for things I’ve already done. Then if it works for me, I share what I accomplished. If it’s a dog, I tell why it failed.Today I need to deviate from that and tell you what someone else did to get herself on CNN.First, click this link or copy and paste this link to your browser: http://tinyurl.com/na7adu to see the video that was shown on CNN last Wednesday morning, made by someone who identifies herself only as Adriana. Here are three reasons why I believe she got featured:1) Her Video is About a HOT and STEAMY SEXY Topic: Health Care Reform – She “attended” a town meeting where the health care plan was discussed. CNN is looking for town meeting attendees right now to hear their “real people” opinions.2) She Looks Like a “Regular” Person – I don’t mean that as an insult. It’s just what CNN is looking for right now; people who represent the people. Adriana is articulate, but not a polished and rehearsed professional speaker. She could be a professional speaker for all we know, but she just doesn’t come off as being one on the video. But, she’s certainly good enough with words to the point where CNN thought she wouldn’t fall to pieces on national television. So, the producers are getting ahold of her as I write this to invite her LIVE on CNN.3) Her Video is Self-Produced and Casual – This video is NOT made in a studio or with professional grade equipment. She probably didn’t even have someone recording the video for her. It’s unedited, has no music intro or outro, no fancy graphics. It’s just plain conversation. And, that’s what CNN is looking for too right now…common conversations on video. So, you have an interesting opportunity right now. You too could plop yourself down in front of a video camera and start speaking your mind. When you do, create an account at IReport.com and submit your 5-minute-or-less video. Who knows, you might find yourself getting a phone call from CNN!I plan to do just that over the coming month and will be applying the health care debates to how they will impact my business. Just about any product or service you offer will be impacted by the health care bill positively or negatively. Share what you know and let’s all get on CNN!

<g:plusone href="http://herenextyear.com/write-white-paper.php"></g:plusone>

White papers have become increasingly popular over the years. They are usually more step-by-step and how-to oriented and more detailed than a “free report” but not as long as an entire e-book, but longer than a typical article you see on the web.

People who hate writing…simply love writing white papers because they’re so easy and fast to produce. Subscribers love them because they have (or should have) exceptional value in a small package, usually 3-20 pages.

For those reasons, I believe every Web site should have a few whitepapers to give away as incentive for a subscription to a list. And here are three steps to get you started.

1. Choose a HOT Topic for Your White Paper

No matter what industry you’re in, there is a hot topic out there somewhere. You need to choose one that appeals to a broad audience. My 101TrafficMethods.com whitepaper is a good example. Everyone in the Internet marketing industry wants more traffic to their Web site, right?

Having a bit of intrigue in your headline is a good idea too. Words like “taboos” and “secrets” and “avoid” bring a little edge to your topic. You want your headline to make people think, “oooo, what’s that?”

2. Format Your Whitepaper with Purpose

You can’t just haphazzardly throw together a bunch of text for a white paper. You do want people to actually read what you’ve painstakenly written.

-Choose a format that allows for simple reading and fast writing, trebuchet font or verdana are best.

-Describe the problem and why you chose to write the whitepaper in the first place.

-Use short paragraphs, highlighed titles and sub-titles.

-Present 15 to 25 steps or points or more that describe what people can do right now to help with the problem, even if that means not hiring you to help them….anything less is just an article.

-The first point should address the most common expectation.

-The last point or step should be the most important toward getting people to do something next. Give them a reason to pick up the phone and call you. Offer a free consult by phone or even in-person.

-Print the document to a PDF (using Adobe’s full version or some other free online PDF creator) and post the PDF to your website where you will direct people to the url such as mywebsite.com/mywhitepaper.pdf

3. Send More Emails to Reinforce the Whitepaper

When I first released a white paper to my subscriber list, I had them go sign-up for it. Yes, even though they were on my list already, I had them sign-up to be on another list. A segmented list.

Once they received the first email providing them with a link to get the white paper, they were invited to check out a few follow-up emails that would help them more with the topic that was discussed in the white paper.

But, I encouraged them to read the white paper first so that the follow-up emails would make sense.

So, create short educational messages about how to put the information in the white paper to best use and to get people to actually take the actions you’re suggesting.

<g:plusone href="http://herenextyear.com/overture-keyword-search.php"></g:plusone>

The Oveture Keyword Search Tool was one of the most widely used Free utilities on the Internet. Although its search results were intended to show you how many people searched for a given keyword or keyword phrase within Overture’s cost-per-click search results, most people used the information as a guide for another reason . . .

When you create any page of your website, you have two options. You can make a page that YOU want or you can make a page that people are already looking for.

By first visiting the Overture Keyword Search Tool, you could search for a keyword phrase of your choice. The tool would not only display the visitation number for that exact keyword phrase but also for any related keyword phrases.

You can get the same results using WordTracker’s free search tool.

If you are thinking of putting the time and energy into creating a webpage and discover no one is searching for that keyword phrase, you’ve just saved yourself some time.

So, bookmark this page. If we ever come across a better solution or WordTracker moves the location of this tool, we will be the first to know about it as we use this tool daily.

<g:plusone href="http://herenextyear.com/preparing-website-extreme-traffic.php"></g:plusone>

It’s the only thing we want. Extreme Website Traffic! We don’t even care if we get sales anymore. We just want the traffic and figure the sales will come.

We don’t just want traffic of any kind, we want “targeted traffic” too. And, it seems like something that’s harder to attain than this time last year.

BLOGs, RSS, SEO, CPC, CTR, it all means the same thing, more traffic. But, few are willing to show you exactly “how” to make these work for your business. They’re only willing to tell you “that” they will.

Here are three things you can do right now to set the stage for increasing targeted traffic to your website for the upcoming year:

1. Automate the updating of your navigation on each page – If you have a traditional Web site where your designer used Dreamweaver or some other HTML editor to construct your pages one by one, it will be a fairly big chore to change your navigation buttons and links every time you add a new page to your site. Convert all of your manual pages into something that updates your navigation links automatically throughout all of your pages when a change is made. Use of PHP or ASP “includes” is good for this as you only have to change links and images in a single file, a file used by each page of the site. So then when you add a page and change that single file by adding a new link, that new link will appear instantly on all the pages of your site.

Another way to accomplish this is to convert your traditional site to using a Content Management System (CMS). Joomla and Drupal are some rather complex cms systems that are very popular in the CMS world. But, we’ve most success using WordPress software for full Web sites. You may have become familiar with the term “WordPress blog.” It’s the same thing, but we’ve been using the WordPress blog format for full client Web sites and even converted our entire HereNextYear Web site into WordPress format. Now, every time I add a post to this area or a page to the main portion of the site, all my links and navs are updated in an instant.

2. Plan to stand in the way of traffic that’s already there -This phrase I picked up at Tom Antion’s Butt Camp years ago where he said, “Why force your website on society when there is plenty of traffic already out there? All you have to do is stand in front of it.”

Simply search the free keyword search tool for a broad keyword phrase related to your business and see how much traffic there is for related terms.

Multiply those numbers by 5 or 6 and you’ll have a semi accurate feel for how many are searching all the search engines for such terms.

3. Create a sub-page to target one keyword phrase and write some content that includes that keyword phrase a few times.

Use all of the components in my Getting Brutal With Google SEO Manual when creating the sub-page. But, once you have one completed, go back to the keyword search utility and find another keyword phrase to write about. Nothing too lengthy, just 400-600 words.

In summary. . .

I could spend 2 hours on this topic alone because there are several strategies to each step. At the minimum, prepare your site for tons of traffic now so that you will save hours of time later. And, check out the next level of this topic where I talk about building content pages for even more extreme website traffic.
